ICT Talks
For those who are interested in knowing more about Information and Communication Technology (ICT), here are some workshop to attend:Friday, April 13 - ICT Days preview
- ICT for Smart Cities, Roberto Saracco
The meeting will offer a panoramic view of ICT as a fundamental element in the structure of a SMART CITY. There will be presentations of futuristic – and already carried out - examples of Smart Cities (Songdo and Masdar) and Smart Buildings. A “behind the scene” look will show the enabling technologies used. There will be discussions on elements such as energy efficiency, electric transportation, and virtual communities. The closing remarks will focus on the expected evolution that will take place during the next few years, and how it will affect Trento and its Province, in terms of digital infrastructure as backbone for Smart Cities, specifically with regards to fiber optic infrastructures that enable extremely wide bands, and wireless LTE for the Internet of Things.

- Crash Course on Android programming, Pietro Molini e Aaron Ciaghi, ICT4g Unit - FBK ICT
Introduction to app development for Android devices. We will show you how to build apps which exploit the features of smartphones and some popular online services with simple examples and short tutorials.14:00Room A102, Polo F.Ferrari - Technology Trends, Alberto Sangiovanni Vincentelli - for InnovAction Lab
Developing systems, specifically products and services that integrate information, electrical, and mechanical elements, is the key competitive advantage that will drive the aerospace, automotive, energy, and much of the defense segments. The IT enablers that drove major economic development worldwide in the past few decades now need to be used to realize system capabilities, but in a cost effective and timely manner - this is the critical next step in economic development.15:00Room A102, Polo F.Ferrari - Cybersecurity: il ruolo delle Istituzioni, delle Aziende e della Ricerca
Nowadays many aspects of society are critically dependent on the proper operation of ICT infrastructures; for this reason, their protection is included among the priorities of all research agendas by the European Commission and the United States. Aware of the fact that its effects go far beyond the pure field of computer science, cyberspace protection may not be assigned to a single institution, but requires active participation of all the parties involved: institutions, businesses, and the world of research. The purpose of this conference is to present the problems of cyber-security and introduce the major challenges we are facing today.15:00Sala Stringa, FBK

16:00. Hands-on Development of Web Applications with Java EE 6, Vitor Estevao Silva Souza.
The Java platform is very versatile and allows for the development of many kinds of applications. Its latest standard for enterprise development, Java EE 6, defines a Web Profile which includes technologies to build lightweight Web Applications, such as Dependency Injection, JavaServer Faces, Java Persistence API, among others. In this "hands on" talk, we intend to demonstrate that, using this technology, developers can quickly build Web Applications using best practices of software development.

By Ericsson14:00Room 102, Polo F.Ferrari - A stroll in the future: ICT and much more to simplify your life, Roberto Saracco
What if the future, instead of being larger or smaller, will simply be … different?
From information highways to robots, from bio-engineering to smart materials, we will be able to envision a typical day, where technology is hidden, while changing our way of life. We will observe how technological progress is actually bringing us closer to what Nature has been doing for hundreds of millions of years, and how some of the rules that regulate natural ecosystems will start to characterize modern economical systems as well, moving from bacteria to cell phones.15:00Aula Magna (A101), Polo F.Ferrari
